OnlyFans bio restricted words: when a trans creator's bio is blocked
When OnlyFans says a bio has restricted words, words trans creators use about themselves may be the trigger. How to find the word and ask support.
When OnlyFans says a bio contains restricted words, the text has matched its "stop words" list, which OnlyFans does not publish. Words some trans creators use about themselves may match that list, although OnlyFans does not confirm whether any identity term is on it. The fix is to find the word that fails and ask OnlyFans support, in writing, whether it is allowed in a bio.
This guide is written by Beloura, a management agency built for trans creators. It explains OnlyFans' published rules in general; it is not legal advice.
Why the filter may catch words trans creators use about themselves
OnlyFans' Content Moderation Policy says it uses "stop words", defined as "words banned on OnlyFans". Text that matches one "will automatically be blocked from appearing on OnlyFans". OnlyFans does not say what is on the list or why each word is there.
A word list matches words, not intent. It cannot tell a creator describing themselves from someone attacking them. Some words trans people use about themselves are also used elsewhere as slurs, and a list that blocks a word in one sense blocks it in every sense. OnlyFans does not publish its list, so this is a possible mechanism, not a confirmed one.
A report in a public creator forum shows how this can play out: a trans creator's bio refused for restricted words with no change made to the wording. OnlyFans does not say whether or when its list changes, so wording that passed once may not pass again.
OnlyFans' rules point the other way on identity. Its Acceptable Use Policy bars hateful conduct, "including attacking other people on the basis of ... gender, gender identity". A word a creator uses about themselves attacks no one, and that is the point worth making to support.
This guide does not suggest which words to use. How a creator describes themselves is their decision. The steps below are for finding what the filter objects to and getting a written answer from OnlyFans.
Refused as typed, or removed after posting
A bio that will not save, with a message about restricted words, was stopped by the automatic list. Nobody at OnlyFans has made a decision about it yet, so the route is support.
A bio that went live and was later removed is different. OnlyFans' help page on deactivated content says a notification explains the reason, based on the Acceptable Use Policy. That removal, a final warning, or a suspension is a decision with its own appeal route (see the last section). The Appeals Policy lists final warnings as appealable but does not mention ordinary warnings, so ask support about a plain warning.
Finding the word without putting it on show
There are two ways to find the word: test it, or send support the whole text and ask.
Testing means deleting half of the bio, saving, and halving whatever still fails until one word is left. Each save that passes is public to anyone who opens the profile, because OnlyFans says the bio can be seen by people who have not subscribed. A fragment can end up live on its own, possibly as a single identity word. For a creator who manages how visible their identity is, that may not be acceptable. Test at a quiet time and restore the intended bio straight away, or skip testing and send support the full text.
Copy the full bio into a notes app first, and screenshot the error with the date visible.
Before deciding an identity word is the trigger, rule out the things OnlyFans already bars:
- Links to file storage sites, or to an off-platform site that breaks its Terms.
- Shoutout-for-shoutout links, or references to meeting fans in person, both listed in the Creator's Guide to Content Moderation.
- Claims that OnlyFans endorses the account.
- Nudity in the avatar or header image, which the Acceptable Use Policy bars. A profile can be flagged for its images while the text is fine.
- Personal details. OnlyFans' personal information page asks creators not to share "your full name, address or personal contact information" with fans. For creators whose legal name is a former name, often called a deadname, the guide on legal names, deadnames and ID checks covers where else that name can appear.
Respelling the word with a dot, space or symbol to get past the list is a risk. OnlyFans says it pairs automated tools with human moderators and can review any text. It may deactivate content, warn, or suspend accounts. A respelled word can pass the automatic check and still be removed later, with a mark on the account.
What to tell support when the blocked word is an identity term
OnlyFans' content guide says: "If you are not sure if something is allowed, just ask us by emailing [email protected]." The Customer Support page lists the same address and a contact form.
Write from the email on the account, put the username in the first line, paste the exact text and attach the screenshot. Then ask one direct question. A message might read:
My username is @example. When I save my bio, I get a message that it contains restricted words. The word in the attached screenshot is the one that fails. It describes me and does not refer to anyone else. Your Acceptable Use Policy protects people on the basis of gender identity, and this word is how I describe my own. Is it allowed in a bio? If not, which rule does it break?
The message does not need any personal history. How much a creator explains about why the word is there is their choice, and "it describes me" is enough to make the point.
Keep the reply, with its date, in the account's records. It is the evidence for every later step.
When a self-description that support approved is refused again
Wording that was accepted before, or that support confirmed in writing, can be refused on a later save. These steps keep the record intact.
- Do not respell or remove the word to get the save through. That loses the record of what was refused.
- Screenshot the new error with the date.
- Reply in the same email thread as support's earlier answer, so the approval is attached. Quote the date of that answer.
- Ask whether the rule or list has changed, and whether the earlier answer still applies.
If the earlier approval was by contact form rather than email, attach a screenshot of it. A written trail is also what an appeal relies on if the bio is later removed.
If a bio was deactivated after it went live
When text went live and was then removed, OnlyFans' appeal help page says "the only way to appeal a Decision is to complete and submit a Deactivation Appeal Form". The Appeals Policy says to file within six months of the decision, and that only fully completed forms are considered.
The form asks for the account URL or username, the URL of the content, and detailed reasons why it complies with OnlyFans' Terms and Acceptable Use Policy. A bio has no content URL of its own, so give the profile URL and say the appeal concerns the bio text. For a self-description, the reasons can be short: the word describes the account holder, it attacks no one, and the hateful conduct rule is about "attacking other people". Attach support's earlier written answer if there is one.
Appeals can be granted, granted in part or denied. The Appeals Policy also says OnlyFans is not liable for lost earnings or subscribers during an interruption, even when an appeal is granted.
The same Acceptable Use Policy also bars hateful conduct towards creators based on gender identity. The guide on misgendering in chats covers restricting, blocking and reporting fans who misgender.

Questions
Are words trans creators use to describe themselves on OnlyFans' restricted list?
OnlyFans does not say. Its policies describe a list of "stop words" that are blocked automatically, but they do not publish the list or mention identity terms either way. Sending support the exact bio text and asking whether the word is allowed in a bio is the only reliable check.
Can a word that describes the creator be refused when OnlyFans' hateful conduct rule is about attacking others?
Yes. The stop-word list blocks matching text automatically, before anyone looks at intent. The Acceptable Use Policy bars "attacking other people" on the basis of gender identity, which is a point to raise with support: a word used about oneself does not attack anyone. Only OnlyFans can say whether the word is allowed.
Why does OnlyFans say my bio contains restricted words when it didn't before?
OnlyFans does not say whether or when its stop-word list changes, so wording that saved once may be refused on a later save. If support approved the wording in writing, reply in the same email thread with the date of that answer and the new error.
Does OnlyFans publish its list of restricted words?
No. OnlyFans' Content Moderation Policy says it uses "stop words", which it describes as words banned on OnlyFans, and that matching text is blocked automatically. The policy does not list the words. Its content guide tells creators who are unsure to email [email protected].
Can a bio blocked for restricted words be appealed?
A bio refused as it was typed was never posted, so the usual route is support. If a bio was live and then deactivated, OnlyFans' Deactivation Appeal Form is the route, within six months of the decision. For a bio, give the profile URL in the content field and say the appeal concerns the bio text.
